What we have done to make this site usable for everyone, and how to tell us where we have fallen short.
Our commitment
A website about widening access to healthcare has an obvious obligation to be accessible itself. We have built this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we treat any failure to do so as a defect rather than a nice-to-have.
Accessibility measures built into this site
- Colour combinations tested to meet WCAG AA contrast requirements
- Every function reachable and operable by keyboard alone
- Visible focus indicators throughout, never suppressed
- A skip link to jump straight to the main content
- Semantic headings and landmarks for screen reader navigation
- All animation disabled when your system requests reduced motion
- Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px
- Meaningful alternative text, with decorative graphics hidden from assistive tech
- Form fields with real labels, and errors described in text as well as colour
- Content that remains readable when text is enlarged
Reduced motion
This site uses animation in a few places — a moving helix graphic, and content that fades in as you scroll. If your operating system is set to reduce motion, all of it is switched off automatically and content appears immediately.
You can enable that setting in your device's accessibility preferences; you do not need to change anything on this site.
Known limitations
Some content on this site is still being written, and pages marked as awaiting confirmation are incomplete by design rather than by oversight.
Documents we publish in future — reports, policy briefs and papers — may be provided as PDFs. We will make these accessible where we control them, but publications hosted by external journals are subject to that publisher's accessibility standards rather than ours. If you need any of our material in a different format, ask us and we will provide it.
