Explaining without distorting
Writing about science for a general audience involves a genuine tension. Simplify too little and nobody outside the field can follow; simplify too much and the account becomes misleading. Health reporting fails most often at the second, usually by presenting a preliminary finding as a settled conclusion.
Our articles aim to be readable without overstating. That means being explicit about uncertainty, describing what a study actually measured, and resisting the temptation to convert an interesting early result into a headline it cannot support.
