Partnership on terms that protect the purpose
Developing a health technology to the point of deployment usually requires capabilities a research centre does not have: manufacturing, distribution, regulatory experience at scale, and capital. Partnership is how those are obtained.
It also carries a risk that has to be managed explicitly. A partnership that produces an excellent product priced beyond the population it was designed for has not advanced our objectives, whatever else it has achieved. We therefore agree access terms at the outset, not once a product is finished and the leverage has gone.

- Access and affordability commitments for the intended population
- The right to publish findings, including unfavourable ones
- Clear allocation of intellectual property
- Defined contributions and responsibilities on each side
- Ethical and regulatory approvals identified and obtained
- Data ownership, handling and confidentiality
- Named contacts and review points
- Terms for ending the partnership if it is not working
