The rationale

Why a regional open-access journal

Research addressing health problems specific to a region frequently struggles to place in international journals — not because it is weak, but because editors judge its significance against a global readership. Meanwhile the researchers who most need to read it may be at institutions that cannot afford subscriptions.

A rigorously peer-reviewed, open-access journal addresses both problems at once. The standard of review is not the variable here; a journal that publishes weak work to fill issues helps nobody and rapidly loses whatever credibility it started with.

Scope, editorial board, peer review process, submission guidelines, publication schedule and ISSN will be published here once the journal is formally established. No submission should be prepared against provisional information, so we will publish these details only when they are settled.
