Cost is a clinical barrier
When a diagnostic test costs more than a household can spare, the consequence is not usually that the patient pays anyway. It is that the test is not done — and a condition that was treatable at an early stage is found later, or not at all.
That makes cost a clinical problem rather than a financial one, and it is why our founding objectives name affordability and accessibility alongside innovation. Subsidised testing is how that commitment operates day to day: the subsidy changes what a patient pays, never how the test is performed or reported. A subsidised sample runs on the same instrument, under the same controls, and is reported to the same standard as any other.

Which tests are available at subsidised rates, how eligibility is assessed, which partner clinics can refer, and what a patient would pay will be published here once the scheme is operating. Patients would rely on this information directly, so we will publish it only when it is accurate.
