Volunteer

Give time to community health programmes and outreach activities. Many roles need no clinical background at all.

Why volunteers matter

Outreach runs on people

A community screening camp needs someone registering arrivals, someone explaining what the test involves, someone translating, someone keeping records straight, and someone following up with people who did not return for their results. Only a fraction of that work requires clinical training.

What it does require is reliability and care. A volunteer who turns up consistently and records details accurately is genuinely valuable, and the number of people a programme can reach is often limited by exactly that rather than by funding.

What we ask

What we look for in volunteers

No qualifications are required for most roles.

  • Reliability — people are counting on the activity happening
  • Care with records; an inaccurate contact detail loses a patient
  • Respect for confidentiality, without exception
  • Willingness to follow procedures exactly as given
  • Courtesy toward participants, always
  • Willingness to complete a short induction
  • Honesty about what you are and are not able to do
  • Reasonable commitment to the dates you agree
